Cylindriscala thalassae
Bouchet & Warén, 1986
Description:
Dimensions range from 16.5 mm - 16.5 mm high.
Width to height ratio: 00:1 ~ 00:1
Shell: acuminate; small. Exterior colour greyish white, basal disc more brownish. About 11 whorls, rounded convex ; protoconch missing. Suture impressed. Imperforate. Approximately 17 - 18 costae on the body whorl. Costae are strong, non lamellar with fine microsculpture of incremental axial lines. Interstices with approximately 12 spiral striae per whorl. Base distinct. Base with 7 spiral striae, Aperture damaged in holotype; inner lip presents as a callus on parietal wall.
As discussed by Bouchet & Warn [1986], C. thalassae resembles C. aurantia but has more numerous, less distant axial ribs and stronger, better defined spiral sculpture. It differs from C. mirifica by being less slender and by its regularly convex, not shouldered axial ribs.
