Epitonium labeo
(Jousseaume, 1912)
Description:
Dimensions range from 3.5 mm - 4 mm high and 2 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.57:1 ~ 0.5:1
Shell: ovate-conical; minute. Exterior colour milky white. About 7.5 whorls, closely spaced at the suture; protoconch with ~2.5 whorls smooth, glassy yellowish; teleoconch with ~5 whorls rounded and convex without being too prominent. Suture fairly deep. Imperforate: the ribs thin out and disappear into a small umbilical funnel. Approximately 15 costae on the body whorl. Costae are thin and lamellar on the early whorls but become increasingly thick and strong as they approach the aperture. Costae continuity of the ribs is not perfectly regular, as some end between the ribs of the previous whorls.. Intercostal spaces very fine striations. Aperture wide, oblique, and rounded-oval; peristome very thick.
