Epitonium melior

(Melvill & Standen, 1903)

Description:

Dimensions range from 6.5 mm - 7 mm high and 2 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.31:1 ~ 0.29:1

Shell: slender, oblong-fusiform; minute. Exterior colour whitish. About 9 whorls; protoconch with ~3 whorls slightly shiny, brownish-white, broad, pyramidal; teleoconch with 4-6 whorls ventricose, closely lamellate, convex. Suture impressed, narrowly open. Imperforate. Approximately 15 - 20 costae on the body whorl. Costae are regular, rounded, blade like. Costae not peaked; beautifully reflexed at the edges, however, Weil et al. [1999:130] describe them as not being reflected. Intercostal spaces very smooth. Aperture round, lip almost continuous, slightly thickened.
