Cycloscala aldeynzeri

Description:

Dimensions range from 19.5 mm - 20.2 mm high and 7.5 mm - 7.7 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.38:1 ~ 0.38:1

Shell: vermiform; delicate; small to moderately small. Exterior colour white, translucent. About 13 whorls; protoconch with ~5 whorls glassy, conical, smooth, convex, rapidly increasing; teleoconch with ~8 whorls rounded whorls, first three whorls loosely attached, becoming more separated. Approximately 60 costae on the body whorl. Costae are thin, evenly spaced which completely encircle the disconnected whorls and decrease in strength in the umbilical area. Intercostal spaces smooth. Aperture subcircular, thin, lip a slightly thickened rib behind. Operculum unknown.


Distribution:

Known only from the type locality. Aliguay Island, Philippines


Habitat:

240 m, in muddy sand


Etymology:

Named for Mr. Albert E. Deynzer, the well-known seashell dealer from Sanibel Island, Florida
