Claviscala nodulosa
Nakayama, 2000
Description:
Dimensions range from 30 mm - 35.5 mm high and 8.3 mm - 9.4 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.28:1 ~ 0.26:1
Shell: elongate turreted; moderately thin, glossy; moderately small. Exterior colour yellowish brown. About 14.5 whorls, convex, tightly coiled; protoconch with ~1.5 whorls convex, small, polished, smooth, white; generally eroded in matured specimens; teleoconch tightly coiledwith 10-13 whorls convex. Spire elevated. Suture simple and moderately deep. Imperforate. Approximately 28 costae on the body whorl. Costae are strong. Intercostal spaces weak spiral striae which crossed over the costae forming weak nodes where they intersect. Interstices with approximately 10 spiral striae per whorl. Base with basal disc keeled at the periphery. Columella lip slightly thickened, recurved in shape. Aperture ovate; outer lip thin.
This species is close to Claviscala turrita, but differs by its weakly nodulated sculpture on the surface and having more axial ribs. It is similar to Amaea (Narvaliscala) percancellata, but differs by having a rather thin shell and not having a distinct lip.
