Description:
Dimensions range from 22.1 mm - 22.5 mm high and 8.4 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.38:1 ~ 0.37:1
Shell: acuminate; thick; moderately small. Exterior colour pale tan. Imperforate. Approximately 18 costae on the body whorl. Costae are thick, round and almost as wide as interstices. Intercostal spaces with a fine thread below the suture and five wide spiral bands which form beads when crossing axial ribs. Base with well defined basal ridge and smooth basal disc. Aperture sub-quadrate; outer lip strengthened by a heavy varix. Operculum unknown.

Named after Dr. Philippe Bouchet, for his important and enthusiastic work in the field of malacology; and in gratitude for his invitation to visit MNHN, and the unique opportunity he has given me to study part of its Epitoniidae. [Garcia, 2003]
