Cycloscala armata
Garcia, 2004
Description:
Dimensions range from 4.7 mm - 5 mm high and 2.6 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.55:1 ~ 0.52:1
Shell: ; minute. About 4.25 whorls; protoconch with ~1 whorls missing in holotype; teleoconch with ~3.25 whorls disconnected, shouldered, first whorl slightly tilted from axis. Approximately 6 costae on the body whorl. Costae are strong, edges folded, the outer edge is adorned with four heavy, almost rectangular, evenly distributed denticles. Intercostal spaces smooth. Aperture circular. Operculum unknown.
Most similar to Cycloscala sardellae Garcia, 2004, which has a narrower shape, the costae have eight denticles at the edge rather than four. It may also appear similar to C. revoluta (Hedley, 1899). However in C revoluta, the crenulations on the costae, are roundish rather than rectangular, are not distributed evenly hooked at the shoulder [Garcia, 2004].
