Description:
Dimensions range from 41.1 mm - 68 mm high and 9 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.22:1 ~ 0.13:1
Shell: orthoconic; light but solid; medium. Exterior colour ivory, with two very faint brownish spots. About 17 whorls, convex with sharp keel at periphery of shoulder. Suture indented. Imperforate: umbilicus closed. Approximately 50 costae on the body whorl. Costae are crowded, narrow, relatively flat. There are 2 varices on each whorl. The varices are very thin and erect and appear on the penultimate and body whorls. Intercostal spaces with well-developed cords which create a fenstrate pattern of squares when crossed by the costae. Interstices with approximately 8 spiral striae per whorl. Base with inconspicuous ridge, basal disc with flat reticulate pattern. Aperture subcircular; outer lip broken in the holotype, but with evidence of a thin varix. Operculum unknown.

Etymology:
[Latin] from elegantulus = very fine, a reference to the elegant shape and sculpturing of the shell.
