Description:

Dimensions range from 2 mm - 3 mm high and 1.6 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.8:1 ~ 0.53:1

Shell: widely turbinate; microscopic. Exterior colour milky-white. About 7.5 whorls; protoconch with ~5 whorls ; teleoconch with ~2.5 whorls. Suture deep on early whorls,later whorls with random openings. Umbilicate: deep but narrow. Approximately 9 - 12 costae on the body whorl. Costae are erect, strongly scalloped. Costae hooked at the shoulder; reflexed. Intercostal spaces smooth. Aperture subcircular, thicken with a varix. Operculum thin, transparent, colourless.

Habitat:

5-25 m [Garcia, 2004b: 62].


Etymology:

As stated by the author [Garcia, 2004b: 64], this species is 'named for Father ( "Révérend Père") Xavier Montrouzier, a pioneer student of the fauna and flora of New Caledonia in the second half of the 19th century; and for whom Expédition Montrouzier was named'.
