Epitonium fauroti

Description:
Dimensions range from 3 mm - 3 mm high and 2.7 mm wide.
Width to height ratio: 0.9:1 ~ 0.9:1
Shell: obese-conical; thick, solid; microscopic. Exterior colour white, dull. About 8 whorls, growing regularly, curving at the suture; protoconch with ~3 whorls ; teleoconch with ~5 whorls. Suture deep suture. Imperforate: umbilicus closed, anterior ends of the ribs connect at the columellar border, where the umbilicus would typically be found. Approximately 11 - 12 costae on the body whorl. Costae are strong and incurved. Costae align from one whorl to the next, forming slightly oblique longitudinal series; slightly elevated at the suture to form an angle, slightly hooked . Intercostal spaces finely encircled with faint striae. Aperture suboval, slightly notched at the back.

Etymology:
named for M. le Dr Faurot., This species is dedicated to my [the author's] colleague, Dr. FAUROT, as a tribute to his fruitful scientific explorations in the Bay of Tadjourah. In fact, the examination of his fascinating collections encouraged me to visit this region, where I spent many winters.
