Surrepifungium ingridae

Description:
Dimensions range from 20.8 mm - 30 mm high.
Width to height ratio: 00:1 ~ 00:1
Shell: vary between broad and relatively slender conical; thin, very fragile; moderately small. Exterior colour creamy white. About 13 whorls; body whorl large, almost half the height of the shell; protoconch with 2.7-3 whorls smooth apex, remainder sculptured with regularly spaced, very fine, incised, axial lines; teleoconch with ~10 whorls separated by deep suture.. Umbilicate: narrow but distinctly perforated, partly covered by the incurved columellar. Approximately 13 - 31 costae on the body whorl. Costae are surface sculptured with densely lamella, evenly spaced, orthocline, thin, lamellate costae. Costae extended at the suture; mostly continuous, but hardly touching each other. Intercostal spaces with numerous very fine spiral threads. Aperture subcircular. Operculum paucispiral, with interconnected coils.
Distribution:
Western Pacific, west of the Malaysian Peninsula; Indonesia, Palau; Queensland, Australia.
Habitat:
1-26m. Associated with mushroom corals, Fungia concinna Verrill, 1864, F. fungites, Heliofungia actiniformis, Herpolitha limax and Polyphyllia talpina (Lamarck, 1801)

This species is named after Ms. Ingrid van der Loo, Leiden
