Gyroscala commutata
(Monterosato, 1877)
Shell: small to large, thin, solid, conical, ranging from 8-34 mm. Without umbilicus.
Sculpture: smooth and weakly shiny between the costae; base rounded, smooth with axial ridges and a single, prominent spiral ridge forming the basal disc; 7-13 costae per whorl with each costa being high, blade or cord like, crossing the suture, continuous from whorl to whorl.
Aperture subovate.
Exterior colour white, polished, white, with a brownish narrow band in front of the suture when fresh, costae white.
